You’re always playing catch-up when you get bowled out for just 135 in the first innings. India ‘A’ weren’t different. Aussie opener Bancroft looked in prime touch and along with skipper Usman Khawaja (33) gave the visitors a 111-run opening stand.

The fortunes of India ‘A’ looked in dire straits before Pragyan Ojha spun his magic. The left-arm spinner strike thrice and made a dent in the Aussie middle-order. Things would have turned even better for the Indians had their fielding not let them down.

India’s Test skipper Virat Kohli, who’s playing this match in order to get some game time under his belt, dropped two catches of Callum Ferguson.

Ferguson (54) paired up with Bancroft and added 107-runs. Bancroft played the spinners well and notched up a delightful 150 before falling to Aparajith. The young off-spinner then got on a roll and picked up four more to complete a five-wicket haul.

Australia ‘A’ ended the day of 329/9 – a lead of 194 runs. On Day 3, India ‘A’ would need the stalwarts Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli to stand up and deliver.
