Tanu Weds Manu Returns Madhavan Begins 45th Birthday With Temple Visit

Chalk one up to serendipity. Actor R Madhavan celebrates a milestone birthday today, just as his film Tanu Weds Manu Returns completes a week at the box office with a blockbuster collection of over 100 crores worldwide. A better 45th birthday present for an actor we cannot think of.

This Bollywood year’s first blockbuster hero began his birthday looking heavenward.

Birthday wishes on Twitter included one from actress Dia Mirza, Madhavan’s first Bollywood heroine in his Hindi debut Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein.

At 45, Madhavan is just one of several over 40 leading men, a league of extraordinary gentlemen which includes the Khans, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan. He told news agency PTI why getting older doesn’t frighten him: “I am not scared of age at all. I embrace it. Nobody can hide it. And if you are hiding age then it means you are insecure.”

Madhavan’s performance as Manu Sharma, the more staid and sorted other half to Kangana Ranaut’s madcap Tanu Trivedi, has received plaudits from critics and fans alike.
