Dengue: 2 More Tested Positive in Jammu, Total 21 Cases

Jammu:  Two more persons have tested positive for dengue in Jammu region, taking the total number of patients suffering from the vector-borne disease to 21.

“Two fresh cases of dengue were detected today taking the total number to 21 in the entire Jammu region,” Director of Health Services, Jammu, Dr Baljeet Singh Pathania told PTI.


A health advisory has been issued by the Centre which has been widely published in local dailies to create awareness among people, he said.


“We have so far treated 19 patients who were tested positive with dengue,” an official of the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital here said, adding, two others had sought treatment out of the state.


Claiming the GMC was fully equipped to treat patients of the vector-borne disease, he said the hospital has so far not received any one whose sickness has taken dangerous proportion.


Dr Pathania said that people need to take precautions so as to save themselves from mosquito bites. They have also been advised to discard any stagnant water which can become breeding ground for mosquitoes.
