Why Everyone's Talking About This Video of PM Modi and Mark Zuckerberg

Screengrab taken from video uploaded on Facebook by Hisham Abbas

There’s this one particular moment from Prime Minister Narendra Modia’s quote-a-minute, hug and photo-op filled second visit to USA that has social media a-Twitter.

Caught-on-camera at Facebook’s Menlo Park headquarters, this video is titled “No one should come in between Modi and camera, not even Mark Zuckerberg..!!”

At the tech company’s cool new office, PM Modi wrote the words “Ahimsa is the greatest Dharma. Satyameva Jayate,” on Facebook’s real wall. The video shows what happened just seconds later and the jury is still out on how to interpret it.

PM Modi, in conversation with the tech giant’s COO Sheryl Sandberg, nudged Mr Zuckerberg to the side. The action made Mr Zuckerberg, who had his back to the camera, face it. It made for a clearer picture of the three, but Mr Zuckerberg seemed distinctly bemused.

Detractors on social media have panned the Prime Minister insisting he moved Mark Zuckerberg out of the way because he was blocking the camera’s view of him.

The video has been viewed 517,531 times since it was uploaded yesterday.
